Mine transport surveillance system

Mine transport surveillance system (MTSS) has been developed by CSIR-CIMFR for controlling unauthorized transportation of mineral from mines, accurate and fool-proof weighing by proper positioning of trucks and controlling overloading, periphery surveillance of mine boundary, on-line monitoring and surveillance of mining activities as well as improving safety, production and productivity of opencast mines. The system has been installed in mines of NMDC Limited and operating successfully during last 3 years at the sites. CSIR-CIMFR has received MEAI-NMDC Award 2018 and Certificate of Merit for CSIR Technology Award 2018 for development and implementation of the indigenous MTSS in different mines.

Developed high pressure adsorption isotherm setup

Developed high pressure adsorption setup has been widely used for determination of maximum storage capacity of lignite, coal and shale reservoirs. The data base used for estimation of gas saturation and recoverable gas resources from unconventional reservoirs by exploration and production companies like GSI, MECL, ONGC, ESSAR, GEECL, CIL, RIL, TATA etc.

Intelligent dry fog dust suppression system

An automated and smart dry fog dust suppression system has been developed by CSIR-CIMFR for efficiently controlling fugitive dust emission from mining and industrial operations. The system consists of hybrid nozzles, sensors, actuators, controllers, screw compressors, air receiver, pumps, motors, and water arrangement with filtration facility. The system automatically starts operation only when the plant is in operation and effectively controls dust emission at source. The system does not affect the material handling process as it adds moisture ??0.1% of material weight. The system has been installed in an iron crushing and screening plant of NMDC Limited and it has been operating successfully during last one and half year.

Paste backfilling in underground metal mines

Surface disposal of mill tailings generated as a by-product of processing of ore is challenging task due to adverse socio- environmental impacts. A possible alternate solution is to use the mill tailings as a backfill material for underground metal mines. Paste backfilling requires comparatively less water, facilitates possibility of maximum recovery of ore from the stope, enhances stability, minimizes subsidence and improvement in mining cycle time. CSIR-CIMFR has been instrumental in adapting this new technology for Indian geomining conditions by providing technological solutions for Sindesar Khurd (SK) mine, Rampura Agucha (RA) mine and Jawar mines, HZL, Rajasthan, India.
